Drone Aviation Corp. released its WATT commercial-grade electric tethered unmanned aircraft system for use in newsgathering, industrial, agricultural and emergency response applications, the first in its new line of commercial UAS.

The high strength armored tether provides power for flight durations that significantly outlast manned aircraft or free-flying UAS.

WATT supports 360 degree day/night video monitoring with up to 10 pounds of payload capacity. The system will hover above its launch site at preset levels up to 300 feet and can be powered through TV production trucks, first responder vehicles, common agriculture or infrastructure equipment, or its own ground power equipment.

The tethered aircraft also comes with an auto retrieve function, onboard battery backup and the capability to transmit live video to a network of mobile devices including tablets and laptops.

“WATT is the result of over 3 years of dedicated development and research by our talented design team, and we are proud to now show the industry what we believe is the finest, most cost-effective commercial-grade tethered drone designed to comply with the FAA’s proposed guidelines,” says Drone Aviation CEO Felicia Hess. “Over the next several months, we look forward to demonstrating WATT in various upcoming live exercises with out partners and proving its unique capability to support many applications in the rapidly developing global commercial drone marketplace.”
