April 2018 Message from the President

To the Rocky Mountain Chapter Membership:

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of AUVSI’s Officers affably wish to pass along information prior to the annual XPONENTIAL event in Denver hosted by AUVSI.  First and foremost, I wanted to thank the Chapter members for their nominations and votes for the special election and for your strong efforts everyday supporting the success of the Chapter.  I am pleased to announce that our newest Officer Greg Griffitt was nominated during special election and elected to the position of Chapter Secretary.  Thank you, Greg, and on behalf of the Chapter we sincerely look forward to working together.

Please be on the lookout for upcoming correspondence regarding the quarterly Chapter Meetings and Chapter Steering Group meetings.  The Chapter will be hosting a meeting in May with details to follow and we look forward to your input and attendance.

Chapter News


The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) recently released a report that analyzes waivers granted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to allow unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) flights beyond the parameters of the small UAS rule (Part 107). In the first year of this process, more than 1,000 operators have received waivers, most of which were for night operations.
