AUVSI's Brian Wynne Named to RTCA Drone Advisory Committee
ARLINGTON, Va. – Brian Wynne, president and CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), today issued the following statement on his selection to the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics’ (RTCA) Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) recently announced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):
“On behalf of AUVSI, I’m proud to join the RTCA’s Drone Advisory Committee alongside the foremost leaders and thinkers in the unmanned aircraft systems industry. We look forward to working with the members of the DAC to facilitate and shape the integration of UAS into the national airspace system and take full advantage of the vast societal and economic benefits of this technology.
“We are hopeful that the DAC will help pave the way for enhancing industry and government collaboration to achieve full UAS integration, including provisions for beyond line of sight operations, access to higher altitudes and platforms above 55 pounds. AUVSI’s research suggests that the UAS industry could create over 100,000 new jobs during the next decade. We are pleased to participate in this industry-government effort to promote the adoption and implementation of UAS technology.”
FAA Administrator Michael Huerta announced the formation of the DAC last May at AUVSI’s XPONENTIAL 2016, the largest trade show for the unmanned systems and robotics industry.
The committee’s first meeting will be held on Friday, Sept. 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
